"The Survival of the Fittest"

This blog is answering question 2 of AP Lang homework.

It was dark outside, and the street was absent of any signs of human life. But I was looking for the thing I wanted the most, that I needed to survive on this planet whose rule for centuries was "the survival of the fittest." That thing that I was looking for the most was food. I saw fruits hanging around from the trees, but the snakes hugged the trees like their home. But fortunately I was looking for a restaurant on a drive to Yellowstone.

My parents had told me to plan all the stops and rest breaks before the trip began to avoid the situation, and they expected the planning from me. But, I was busy with other "stuff" that was unimportant. I had been told by my parents to plan the trip at least a month in advance, but I didn't. They told me that I was now a teenager, & it was my responsibility to plan family trips. Well, on my side, - because I am a "teenager" now - it is also my responsibility to take a dozen APs too. So those kept me busy.

I like AP Lang, apparently the hardest class for me cuz I don't really have the habit of reading; APUSH, which takes away like 2 hours of my time each day (even on weekends); and finally APCSP, which isn't too bad. For APUSH, if you look at the full name of the course - Advanced Placement United States History - you will be scared already. It seems like the name of some highly professional Phd degree. But just by looking at the name "APUSH," it feels like how hard a 5 letter named course can be. It must be a piece of cake. But when it comes to studying APUSH, it is a very long and challenging task. And for AP LANG, although there is not much homework, it takes me a long time to think about how to answer the homework prompt.

And in addition to AP courses, I have to do tons of volunteering and clubs too. I spend about 10 hours on clubs each week, which is a long time. But when it comes to planning, I do not have enough time left. So, I guess I kind of have an excuse for not planning a trip.

But, my parents have high expectations from me, like planning a family trip. But sometimes I am unable to fulfill those expectations because I get very busy with academics. Nevertheless, I will try to meet my parents' expectations. When it comes to my parents, they get very angry with me when the situation comes to extremes, like "the survival of the fittest." But generally, they do not get very angry with me, and I always get away by saying that I will do it next time, lol. And, they forget it after 10 minutes when the situation is not that serious anyways. Sometimes my dad just plans the trip himself then.

So whatever it is, I need to balance between my family and academic life.

  2. I like how you really put into perspective how difficult balancing all of these responsibilities is, and I respect you for going through all this work. I also like what you did with dissecting the word APUSH, and how it isnt as it seems.
