What's in "I Want a Wife" by Judy Brady?

In her piece "I Want a Wife," Judy Brady satirizes society's view about the role of wifes by using repetition, and organization throughout her writing. Coming on to repetition first, Brady repeats the phrase "I want a wife" throughout her piece, and lists all the expectations from the wifes. She begins listing expectations by first saying that " I want a wife who will work and send me to school." As she lists her first couple expectations, it does not seem a lot, due to (what it seems like) looking like a normal role of wife in a household. And in the following couple sentences, the article continues to list domestic expectations from a wife, and it does not seem very satirical. But when the piece continues to list what seems incessant duties of a wife, it seems kind of annoying for the reader. That frustration comes from the endless repetition of the phrase "I want a wife." And expectations listed in the article become more extreme as the ar...

The Superman - a hero made by himself?

When I was younger, about 7 - 8 years old, I had a lot of hot wheel cars. I loved to play with them, and wanted to drive them someday. But one day, my parents brought a figure of Superman. As soon as I saw that, I forgot about the hot wheels car I had. I liked that Superman figure so much that I virtually stopped playing with any other toys.  I liked how superman was the savior of the world, fighting all the villains to protect humanity. Sure there are other superheroes, but superman always seems to have work to get done alone. Is he saving the world alone because there is nobody to support ...

"The Survival of the Fittest"

This blog is answering question 2 of AP Lang homework.         It was dark outside, and the street was absent of any signs of human life. But I was looking for the thing I wanted the most, that I needed to survive on this planet whose rule for centuries was "the survival of the fittest." That thing that I was looking for the most was food. I saw fruits hanging around from the trees, but the snakes hugged the trees like their home. But fortunately I was looking for a restaurant on a drive to Yellowstone.      My parents had told me to plan all the stops and rest breaks before the trip began to avoid the situation, and they expected the planning from me. But, I was busy with other "stuff" that was unimportant. I had been told by my parents to plan the trip at least a month in advance, but I didn't. They told me that I was now a teenager, & it was my responsibility to plan family trips. Well, on my side, - because I am a "teenager" now - it is al...
